Modelling
Craftfoam is designed to give the maximum benefit when used for modelling purposes. Used by craft and hobby enthusiasts, war gamers, architects, flower arrangers, and may more people. Carftfoam has excellent modelling characteristics. Available in both Blue and Green foams.
Cutting
Craftfoam cuts easily with a serrated knife, hacksaw or floral knife. A little bit of wax from an old candle will make the cut easier and smoother. To cut a thick piece of Craftfoam or several sheets use an old electric carving knife or similar.
Painting
Paint with acrylic paints for the best results. Avoid the use of solvent-based paints unless you are sure they are suitable for use with foam plastics. Some spray paints are safe to use but again ensure it is compatible with foam plastic. For easier handling when painting, insert a floral pick or skewer into the foam shape to use as a handle.
Gluing
White craft glue is ideal for bonding Craft foam. Other choices include low temperature glue gun. To improve the bond, rub two pieces of Craftfoam together before gluing.
Sanding
For smooth, rounded edges, ‘sand’ the foam with another piece of Craftfoam.
Texturing
Cover Craftfoam shapes with plaster, gesso, modelling paste or other coating materials.
Bakery Cutters
For a variety of fun shapes press metal cookie/bakery cutters into thin sheets of Craftfoam. Gently remove the shape from the cutter and sand.
